Setting up Quickbooks integration

Tracking in Tutor Trove but accounting in Quickbooks? No Problem! We've built a way to export your information form Tutor Trove into Quickbooks, available to our Premium-level Customers. It takes some setting up, but once you've done it once, it just takes a couple clicks to import a month's worth of sessions into Quickbooks.

You'll need one of our reps to help you with the actual linking, but there are a few things you can do to get ready.

First: set up your accounts. Quickbooks using double entry accounting, and our import method (.iif) debits one account and credits another. Make sure you have:

  • a "Balance sheet Account." generally, there's an account called "Accounts Receivable" that fits the bill

  • an "Income Account." You'll have to make this one, but we recommend something like "Tutoring Income" or "Consulting Income" or just "Income"

The other thing you'll have to do before running an import is disable the "Sales Tax" requirement for transactions (if you haven't already). To do this, go to:

Quickbooks > Preferences > Sales Tax

and uncheck the box that says: "Customers are charged sales tax."

After that, get in touch with us and we'll help with final linking steps. Easy as that!
